2019 GLOBAL ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (GEDP) - SOFTWARE
THE CHALLENGE
GEDP is an intensive program for people who have a passion for technology, a drive for technical excellence, and share in GE Appliances’ core values.
This program is designed to accelerate participants' professional development through intense technical training and a variety of business-critical assignments.
Program graduates have the technical and business foundation to proactively and continually make innovative contributions to GE Appliances' future.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Program Details
•
2-3 year entry-level rotational development program based in Korea : 4-5 rotations of 6 months
•
Opportunity to have one rotational assignment and to develop software teams in US
•
GEDPs receive targeted training from global engineers and participate in projects to develop them into well-rounded software engineers.
•
Opportunity to pursue a GE Appliances-sponsored M.S. degree in engineering
•
Formal reports and presentations to senior leadership
•
Extensive coaching, mentoring & networking with peers globally
•
No two rotations are the same, our GEDPs work in varied teams and environments to get a wide array of experiences
•
GE Appliances has an active GEDP community with leadership and social opportunities

Essential Responsibilities
•
We develop in C (production code) and scripting languages like Lua and JavaScript (tooling)
•
We use the industry-leading version control system Git
•
We’re Agile!
•
We’re heavily invested in Test Driven Development (TDD) which is a great way to work
•
We use continuous integration to automate builds and identify issues quickly
•
We’re invested in continuous learning and full-time developers have the opportunity to attend software conferences
•
We’re doing a lot of work towards making connected appliances via Internet of Things (IoT) functionality
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Minimum Qualifications
•
Pursuing Bachelors degree or better in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
•
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (Korean & English)
•
Completion of a military service and no issue on travel to abroad
•
Cumulative GPA >=3.0 (out of 4.0)
Preferred Qualifications
•
Passion / aptitude for technology
•
Previous hands-on, technical internships
•
Personal application of technology through hobbies, start-ups, consulting (e.g. web development)
•
Leadership role(s) on campus
•
IT/software development activities/club involvement
•
Excellent academic record, have experience in technical writing
•
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, bilingual proficiency in English and Korean
•
Demonstrate quick learning skills and analytical approach to problem-solving
•
Passion for technology, innovative spirit, committed to a career in technology/engineering
•
Has leadership potential, able to deal effectively with stressful situations
