The Office of International Cooperation at Chonnam National University will inform students to submit their residence cards to the university. The collected residence cards will be submitted to the Gwangju Immigration Office for the update of expiration date on the back, and then will be redistributed to the students.
The cases where group application is not possible

Students subject to judicial processing

Those who have not paid taxes, national health insurance, etc.

Undergraduate and graduate students with grades below 2.0
4.
Students who have more than 4 months left until the expiration date of their stay
5.
Duplicate applicant with immigration office (if he/she submitted an application to immigration himself/herself and also applied to Hirevisa)
6.
Unreported person after passport reissuance
7.
Students subject to close examination (usually grades 2.0 or less, or with past police station punishment records) and students who are requested face-to-face visits from immigration for other reasons.
8.
Cases where ARC re-issuance is needed (lost ARC, insufficient space on the back of the card, etc.)
Notice

The final issuance period is about 3 to 4 weeks from the time the application is completed at the immigration office.
•
You must stay in Korea during the administrative agency processing period, and you may not be allowed to leave the country.
•
Please note that if you are Bachelor's degree (D2-2) → Master's degree (D2-3), or Master's degree (D2-3) → Doctor (D2-4) and the school you did the Bachelor (or Master) is different from the one you are going to attend for Master (or Doctor), you need to apply for an extension of the sojourn period within 15 days of the start of the semester.

An application for an extension can be made at the earliest four months before the expiration date of your stay.

Example: if the expiration date is 'Jan 30, 2023', you can apply for an extension from 'Sep 30, 2022'.

Petition applications should be made at least 2 business days before the expiration date of your stay. Therefore, it is highly recommended to apply in advance.
•
If your date of stay expires before the extension permit is confirmed, there might be some difficulties in using banking services, health insurance benefits and mobile services, but once the extension is permitted, you can use those services as before.
